Grace Welbourne

I’m Grace Welbourne and I am a year 3 teacher and Music Subject leader at Swanland Primary School. I have worked at Swanland for the past eight years, but my connection to the school goes a lot further, as I attended the school myself as a child! I knew even before I qualified as a teacher that I would love to work here, because the nurturing atmosphere and care I received as a child helped shape me into the person I am now.

 

Music has always held a special place in my heart, learning to sing and play piano at a young age. I would often perform at the Hull New Theatre in amateur dramatic productions and competed in numerous singing competitions around the county. To me, music can motivate, inspire, relax and provoke deep thought and I wanted to give children the opportunity to experience these emotions and the power of music for themselves. Hopefully, this is evident through our new music curriculum and our music teaching.
